Family Photoshoot in Paris With Kids: How It Works (and Why Kids Love It)
"Our kids will never stand still." Parents tell me this before almost every family session. The good news: they don't need to. Working with children is one of the things I enjoy most, and a family photoshoot in Paris can be a fun part of your trip for the kids too.
How I work with kids
I keep it playful. Races, jumping, swinging in the air, little games: kids have fun, and that's when the best photos happen.
I follow their energy instead of forcing poses. If a toddler wants to explore, I follow.
I talk to them directly. Kids usually relax faster when they feel the photographer is on their side.
Parents can relax. You don't have to manage everyone; I take care of getting their attention.

Every age works
Babies: we plan around naps and feeding, and keep the session calm.
Toddlers: movement and short games, with breaks when needed.
Kids: challenges, races and silly faces between the nice shots.
Teenagers: a more relaxed, natural approach. They often end up loving their portraits.
Not just group photos
During the session, I take the whole family, but also individual portraits and smaller combinations: mother and daughter, father and son, siblings, grandparents with grandkids.

The best time and places with kids
Late morning is often the easiest with kids and jet lag.
Sunrise is perfect if your kids are early risers, with empty spots.
Places with space: Trocadéro, the gardens around the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre courtyards and the Tuileries. See Paris gardens photoshoots and my Eiffel Tower photoshoot.
